Ministry of Health (MOH) has committed funding for operating costs to support eight community hospital settings to participate in the care of children with malignant disease.
MOH funding designated for the POGO Satellite Program via POGO is intended to supplement the delivery of this specialized community service by ensuring designated staffing and supporting their education, in order to provide equitable, accessible care closer to home.
Currently, operational funds flowed through POGO to POGO Satellite Clinics include funding of designated pediatric POGO Satellite Clinic nurse(s), plus a stipend for the designated, participating pediatrician(s). Additional professionals who contribute non-funded proportions of their time include pharmacists, lab technicians, social workers, dietitians and child life specialists.
