Gifts of Stock and Securities

How you can help

Supportive Care and Guidelines

Turn Your Investments into Impact
By donating securities to POGO, you’re making a tax-advantaged gift that creates lasting impact for children and families facing childhood cancer. It’s an investment that pays off in more ways than one.

Why Donate Securities?
Donating securities is one of the most effective ways to support childhood cancer care while achieving your own financial goals. When you give publicly-traded stocks, bonds, or mutual funds, you avoid paying taxes on capital gains, making your gift go further than if you sold the securities and donated the proceeds. Plus, you’ll receive a charitable tax receipt for the full fair market value of the securities.

Making a gift of securities is easy and straightforward. Here’s how you can get started:
  1. Complete the Release for Securities Transfer Form: This form is used to authorize the transfer of your securities to POGO.
  2. Share the form with your financial advisor: Work with your advisor to initiate the transfer of your securities.
  3. Notify us: Let us know once the transfer has been initiated so we can track and acknowledge your donation.

Your Gift Matters
By donating securities, you’re directly supporting POGO’s mission to partner to achieve the best childhood cancer care system for children, youth, survivors, and their families and healthcare teams. From a child’s diagnosis, through treatment and into survivorship, POGO is here for kids with cancer, for now, for life.

For more information or assistance, please email us or call 416-592-1232 ext. 220. We’re here to help you make a meaningful difference.

Leave a Gift in Your Will: Your Impact Will Last a Lifetime

“I’m really impressed with POGO’s continued advocacy and research into childhood cancer care. I want to see a better future for children with cancer and childhood cancer survivors, and that’s why I chose to leave a legacy gift to POGO.” — Katie B.

When you leave a gift to POGO in your will, you’re not just making a donation, you’re making a lasting impact that will help improve the lives of children with cancer for years to come. Every gift—no matter the size—helps create a world where children not only survive cancer but go on to live full and healthy lives.

Making a legacy gift is easier than you think. Here’s how:

      1. Consult your lawyer: Ask your lawyer about adding a codicil (a simple amendment) to your will to ensure your wishes are carried out.
      2. Add bequest wording: Include the appropriate bequest language in your will to ensure your gift goes to the right cause.
      3. Let us know: Share your intentions with us, so we can thank you and ensure your legacy is honoured exactly as you envision.

For more information, please email us or call 416-592-1232 ext. 220.

Your Impact

How you can help

Supportive Care and Guidelines

I am grateful to the POGO donors who, out of the kindness of their hearts, give financial support to help families they have never met. And most of all, I am grateful that cancer didn’t break us. Somehow, out of this very negative situation, our bond as a family is even stronger than before.” – Karen Palma

The Difference You Make

These highlights reflect the impact you made possible last year.

Helping families focus on care, not costs. Thanks to your support, POGO provided over $650,000 in financial assistance to 781 Ontario families, easing the burden of everyday expenses beyond medical care during their child’s cancer treatment.

Helping survivors thrive beyond cancer. With your generosity, 534 childhood cancer survivors received one-on-one support from POGO Counsellors to help them successfully transition from high school to higher education or employment. In addition, 50 survivors were awarded scholarships to pursue post-secondary studies and future goals.

Driving excellence in care through education. More than 200 experts from across North America gathered at the 2024 POGO Multidisciplinary Symposium on Childhood Cancer—an essential forum for advancing knowledge, collaboration, and best practices in childhood cancer care.

Strengthening care through research. POGO supports research that deepens understanding, informs care, and improves outcomes for children and youth with cancer survivors, and their families.

Thanks to the generosity of our community, children with cancer and their families receive the care, support, and hope they need—every step of the way.
