Research & Data

POGO’s Research & Data initiatives, implemented across three key pillars, are key to achieving our vision and mission.

POGO Research Unit (PRU)

The PRU undertakes research activities that focus on specific priorities within the spectrum of childhood cancer control. It focuses on the areas of epidemiological studies, health services research, health economics and status of survivors/quality of life.

POGONIS – Childhood Cancer Database

POGONIS is the engine driving POGO’s research activity. It is actively used for monitoring and surveillance of childhood cancer and to generate data to inform health system planning and policy development. POGONIS is a source of validated and reliable data used to monitor the incidence and prevalence of childhood cancer, the demand for cancer care, patient outcomes and long-term effects of childhood cancer treatment.

Data Reports

POGO monitors and publicly reports on the burden of childhood cancer in Ontario, and provides data to hospitals related to childhood cancer. Data reports are important for enhancing data-driven quality improvement, one of POGO’s key strategic goals.
