On Friday, we learned that, after 25 years of serving those impacted by cancer, Gilda’s Club Greater Toronto has ceased operations, effective August 21, 2026.
We are saddened by this development and recognize the significant impact it will have on families who relied on the services offered by Gilda’s Club Greater Toronto, including the Life After Treatment: A Pediatric Parent Support Group, funded by POGO.
The Pediatric Oncology Group of Ontario (POGO) and Gilda’s Club share a commitment to ensuring that children, youth, and families affected by childhood cancer have access to the care and support they need throughout their journey. Peer support, mental health services, and psychosocial care play a critical role during and after treatment, making the loss of available programs especially challenging for families seeking support.
Our commitment remains unchanged. We will continue to champion and invest in programs that support the mental health and well-being of families affected by a childhood cancer diagnosis.
As we learn more about the implications of this closure, we will be exploring next steps and future opportunities to ensure families continue to receive the psychosocial support and care they need. In the meanwhile, please see below for a list of available resources.
