I am grateful to the POGO donors who, out of the kindness of their hearts, give financial support to help families they have never met. And most of all, I am grateful that cancer didn’t break us. Somehow, out of this very negative situation, our bond as a family is even stronger than before.” – Karen Palma

The Difference You Make

These highlights reflect the impact you made possible last year.

Helping families focus on care, not costs. Thanks to your support, POGO provided over $650,000 in financial assistance to 781 Ontario families, easing the burden of everyday expenses beyond medical care during their child’s cancer treatment.

Helping survivors thrive beyond cancer. With your generosity, 534 childhood cancer survivors received one-on-one support from POGO Counsellors to help them successfully transition from high school to higher education or employment. In addition, 50 survivors were awarded scholarships to pursue post-secondary studies and future goals.

Driving excellence in care through education. More than 200 experts from across North America gathered at the 2024 POGO Multidisciplinary Symposium on Childhood Cancer—an essential forum for advancing knowledge, collaboration, and best practices in childhood cancer care.

Strengthening care through research. POGO supports research that deepens understanding, informs care, and improves outcomes for children and youth with cancer survivors, and their families.

Thanks to the generosity of our community, children with cancer and their families receive the care, support, and hope they need—every step of the way.
