Workshop C: Preparing Patients, Donors and Families for Transplant

Presentation Description: Choosing whether or not to proceed with a transplant is a difficult decision for families. Adaptation to a new treatment centre is an added stressor for families coming to BMT from referring centres across the province and country. Collaboration and shared communication between treatment teams provide critical knowledge and improve access to bio-psycho-social resources for families coming to transplant. The presented case study highlighted these and corollary issues involved for families who are preparing for transplant.
