Posted on January 2, 2015 by admin

The 2014 POGO Multi-Disciplinary Symposium on Childhood Cancer – Lymphoma in Children and Adolescents – examined clinical and scientific advances in the diagnosis and treatment of lymphoma in children and adolescents and highlighted the impact of this disease on patients, parents and survivors.

Over 200 pediatric oncologists, nurses, social workers, and other health care professionals gathered to enhance their knowledge of diagnostic and treatment innovations for various types of lymphoma, and improve their ability to manage the physical and psychosocial effects that are common to patients with this disease.

Utility of PET Scans – When and for Whom?

Posted on January 2, 2015 by admin

Presentation Description:
PET scans are often used in the management of patients with Hodgkin and non-Hodgkin lymphoma.  They are often valuable for the staging, assessment of response to therapy, and surveillance for recurrent disease in patients who have completed treatment.   However, false positive findings after therapy are not uncommon and may lead to additional testing.  This presentation reviewed current indications for PET scans in patients with lymphoma and provided an overview of the PET Harmonization Project.

Speaker:

Barry L. Shulkin, MD, MBA
Chief, Division of Nuclear Medicine
St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Memphis
