September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month (CCAM)POGO and its partners across the province coordinate community events to raise awareness about childhood cancer and its impacts on the young patients, their families, and survivors. A school yard chalk drawing campaign, gold ribbon distribution, mayoral proclamations and fundraising events are just a few of the activities you can participate in.

TORONTO, ONTARIONational Day of Awareness and Action for Childhood Cancer
Saturday, September 21
The Gold Ribbon Campaign and Childcan have organized a celebration at HTO Park East, 339 Queens Quay East. Park opens at 2pm. There will be a BBQ, refreshments and entertainment from 4-8pm and the CN Tower will shine in gold at 7:30 p.m.

Thursday September 26, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Join families, hospital staff and volunteers in the Garden Patio for lots of fun activities, including an art show, poster presentations, arts and crafts, chalk messages, “blood soup” activity, and a sneak peak of the new MIBG suite which is scheduled to open at the end of September. Participants from several visiting organizations will also be joining us: POGO, OPACC, Camp Trillium, Camp Oochigeas, Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Young Carers, Gilda’s Club and more!

Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra

The Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra is raising awareness about childhood cancer by dedicating the September 21st performance of The Great Romantics to POGO and celebrating the work POGO does in Ontario.
Saturday, September 28, 6pm
The Hamilton Tiger-Cats will be hosting POGO families at the September 28th game against the Calgary Stampeders and raising awareness about childhood cancer and the work POGO does in Ontario through fundraising efforts and a half-time presentation.

Month of September
The Sheraton Hotel has committed to promoting Childhood Cancer Awareness Month on their hotel lobby welcome screens and by wearing the symbolic gold ribbon throughout the month of September.

Fun afternoon of games and crafts with a teddy bear picnic theme. Clinic children and their families will enjoy face painting, jumping castle, ice cream, chalk messages, bear decorating and other bear themed crafts. Southlake Regional Health Centre staff, physicians and volunteers are also invited to participate in the fun, and hear a few words from Hospital Administrators and the Mayor, who will proclaim the date as Childhood Cancer Awareness Day in Newmarket.
