POGO held its’ first-ever Survivor Conference at the Kingbridge Conference Centre & Institute in King City this past May 21-22, 2011.
The educational sessions addressed topics including: nutrition, fertility, second cancers (risks and prevention), self esteem and sexuality, relationships and disclosure, heart health, memory challenges, and hormonal issues and their treatment.
The conference also featured a social component in which participants were given the opportunity to take part in various social activities including: a cooking class lead by lead chef, a variety of fitness classes, an applied art class and nature walks.
The conference was a tremendous success, with over 90 participants travelling from across Ontario to attend, learn and network with each other.
Please check back in the fall for updates on post-conference materials.
POGO would like to thank the planning committee for their time and commitment to the success of this conference.
The following sections of our site may be of particular interest to survivors of childhood cancer:
- SAVTI - Successful Academic and Vocational Transition Initiative
- Guide - POGO Resource Guide
- AfterCare - browse down for POGO AfterCare Clinics
AfterCare Brochures
- COG Guidelines - The Children’s Oncology Group
The guidelines at this location represent the collective opinions of many experts in the field of childhood cancer survivorship. Guidelines typically are based on strong evidence from clinical trials. Such evidence does not exist in many of the issues in the area of Survivorship, and sometimes, the guidelines are based on the collective experience of the experts. The guidelines are for your guidance – we recommend if you have questions about them, that you check the information out with the staff in your AfterCare clinic
- Insurance Information
