Recent Initiatives for POGONIS

The following initiatives have been identified for POGONIS:

• Updating POGONIS Nomenclature and Diagnostic Classification system to the International Classification of Childhood Cancer (ICCC) system and ICD–O 3rd Edition system
• Enhanced data security at POGO to comply with Personal Health Information and Protection Act (PHIPA) requirements
• Posting of POGONIS data architecture/data elements on the POGO website for professionals and researchers to access
• With the aid of an epidemiologist and biostatistician, ensure the quality of the data through the development of quality control surveillance system
• POGO will continue to provide financial assistance for POGONIS data managers in POGO's partner hospitals and will provide ongoing training and professional development for these data managers
• Listed POGONIS as an information holding in the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care’s Ontario Health Planning Data Guide
• Upgrade the POGONIS system to incorporate the latest advances in cancer surveillance systems and to incorporate a patient event model.
