Joan Schatz-Belisle Volunteer Award

Presented to Joan Schatz-Belisle in recognition of her outstanding commitment to improving the lives of children with cancer and their families.
The Joan Schatz-Belisle Volunteer Award commemorates the work of Joan Schatz and honours those who have demonstrated a significant commitment to improving the lives of children with cancer and their families.
Joan has demonstrated a remarkable passion for POGO’s mission and a strong commitment to our fundraising goals. She has generated support from multitudes of individuals and corporations. In the 4 years since Joan took on the role as Gala chair, the net proceeds from the gala grew from just under $250,000 to over $400,000, and the total funds raised from the event, while under Joan’s leadership, will reach over $1.4 million in 2008! Joan has been a tireless ambassador for POGO, helping build relationships for POGO with individuals and organizations, which will undoubtedly endure for years to come.
The award is presented bi-annually to one POGO volunteer whose commitment and persistent efforts has:
- demonstrated a passion for POGO's mission and commitment to POGO's fundraising goals
- led and galvanized the support of others on behalf of POGO
- helped generate public awareness of POGO's work and fundraising goals
- helped generate significant dollars on behalf of POGO
- served as a POGO ambassador within their personal network and/or to the general public
- helped build relationships between POGO and individuals, corporations, foundations and other organizations, which have endured over time
The Joan Schatz-Belisle Volunteer Award was first presented to Joan in April 2008 and POGO’s 7th Annual Gala.
