Camping programs provide a special experience for children and families experiencing cancer. They are geared to the special medical and psychosocial needs of children and families, yet they also provide a chance to get away and have fun. Camps are usually available for children and their families including siblings, and children can continue to attend for years after they have recovered from their illness. When choosing a camp, it is important to ensure that it is certified and recognized by a provincial or national camping association, and that it has a formal link with the child's health care team.
