2011 POGO Student Symposium Bursary Program

General Information


Pediatric Oncology Group of Ontario (POGO) is pleased to offer five special bursaries to assist with the cost of attending the 2011 Multi-Disciplinary Symposium on Childhood Cancer.
Bursaries are available to: Medical Students (1); Medical Residents (1); Nursing Students (2); and students in the Allied Health (1) disciplines. The bursary will cover the following costs associated with attending the Symposium:

  • Registration fee
  • One (1) night’s accommodation (for non-GTA residents) at the Intercontinental Toronto Centre at the preferred rate ($199 per night)
  • Travel to and from the Symposium (for non-GTA residents; ground transportation only, unless otherwise approved)

NOTE: Funds will be paid out as a reimbursement of costs incurred, not provided in advance of the Symposium.


Obligations


Successful candidates will be expected to attend all sessions and to submit a 500-word summary on the Symposium to POGO within seven (7) days of the Symposium. This summary should highlight new information learned at the event, networking opportunities, new ideas for research, etc. Suggestions as to how POGO might, in future, assist students interested in exploring pediatric oncology careers and general comments are also welcome.


To Apply

  1. Complete the Bursary Application Form including the endorsement from the academic department/supervisor/registrar. 
  2. Append a 200-word summary outlining your area of interest in pediatric oncology.
  3. Attach your Curriculum Vitae.
  4. E-mail a complete package to Clara Jordan, Conference & Educational Events Coordinator at cjordan@pogo.ca. The deadline for applications is: September 30, 2011.

You will be notified of the pre-approved amount of bursary funding available to you no later than October 18, 2011.
