POGO is committed to providing ongoing education and discussion opportunities as part of the provincial satellite program. POGO sponsored the SickKids Pediatric Oncology Shared Care Education Day on February 17, 2010. The topics and speakers were determined by representatives from SickKids, POGO and its satellite partner sites. This education day targeted pediatricians and lead nursing staff at the POGO provincial pediatric oncology satellite centres. A record number of pediatricians attended from our satellite centres.

The day provided opportunities for tertiary and satellite centre staff to network, to discuss common clinical issues and challenges and to contribute to the identification of future educational opportunities and priorities.

Topics addressed included:  Clinical management of fever and neutropenia, parenteral nutrition support, pain management, and ALL (acute lymphocytic leukemia) protocols and dose adjustment during the maintenance phase of therapy for ALL.

For speaker synopsis and bios please refer below.  If you are interested in their presentations or if you have comments or suggestions for future education events, please forward an email to Clara Jordan at cjordan@pogo.ca
