What is SAVTI

SAVTI (Successful Academic and Vocational Transition Initiative) is aimed at survivors of brain tumours and childhood cancer who as a result of their disease and/or treatment have developed learning difficulties that interfere with the achievement of their educational and career goals. SAVTI’s main purpose is to facilitate a smoother transition from high school to appropriate education and employment.

SAVTI can help with:

  • Identifyng appropriate career options and goals
  • Developing a personal education and/or employment plan for achieving goals
  • Applying for admission to college or university and preparing for employment
  • Identifying and implementing learning strategies to improve academic or employment success
  • Linking with appropriate services and supports within colleges, universities, or the community in order to achieve goals
  • Developing self-advocacy and problem solving skills
  • Individual, customized service to young people focused on their strengths and skills
  • Various tools and technology to guide clients through the career exploration process

As part of this initiative, SAVTI has developed a list of resources that can assist survivors in planning for their future.”
